I found out that in 1870 the keyboard layout was formed! it was initially in alphabetical order however due to the first keyboard being on a type writer the arms of the keys kept getting jammed. the designer then had to develop and re-arrange the letter into what we now know as the qwerty keyboard. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QWERTY
